Annie Duke may not have came away with her 1st World Series of Poker Bracelet until 2004 but she remains one of the most powerful poker competitors around the ring games at The Bellagio in Vegas. Annie’s long-overdue WSOP bracelet came with a win at the "forgotten game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.
While competitors from the "young crowd" of poker go berserk following a big success at the tables, Annie goes home to be "mum" to her 4 children. She was born in NH and grew up in a family of card players. If you don’t accept that, have a look at her brother, Howard Lederer, in action, who taught Annie how to compete in poker.
However, Annie Duke is not a small change girl and has won her cut of hard matches, including eliminating Howard a few times on numerous occasions.
Winning well over $3 million in tournament action, Annie branched out to become a advisor to both UltimateBet and Hollywood actor Ben Affleck, who aspired to develop his skills and become a big player at the poker table.
You might just see Annie at the Bellagio, you will catch her on the television and you may even compete against her in a web-based poker match, but do not bank on a simple win. Unless you’re a rising star, you’ll not defeat her. although, it would be fun to say you played at the same table as "The Duke".
