Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve closing table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest enthusiasts around the world. While gambling on web poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. Gus often plays in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I know Hansen is an excellent poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is broke, he has no reason to sit at the game with the min buy in.
Playing for the min takes almost all of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is accepted to be 1 of the greatest poker players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amount. I believe tv can alter our view of the real world at times. The best poker players in the world may be players you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be seen gambling on net poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in big stakes omaha/8 and Holdem. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his talents in cash rounds?
