Online High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to achieve closing game in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a large pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest players around the world. While participating in online poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He often participates in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Gus frequently buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all in. I accept that Gus is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be one of the best poker players in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amount. I believe television can skew our perception of the real world every now and then. The best poker players anywhere in the world could be guys you have never heard of before. Gus can be seen participating in internet poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in high stakes omaha hi-low and texas hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in cash rounds?
