No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover anything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the detrimental feedback from others kill his dream of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

He began playing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He says that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Even though Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
