Texas Hold’em is all about gamblers and seating. All knowledgeable Hold’em players agree that position in no limit Holdem is critically significant. Showing your hole cards in last position may be a whole lot more profitable than in starting poker spot. The reason seeing that much more information is amassed before acting.
As an example, I was playing a $1-$2 no limit money game at a local poker room. I came in holding 2, 9 unsuited on the croupier button, so I could see some excitement. Flop came down A-A-4. A gambler in early position placed a fifteen dollar bet. 2 entrants fold and it was now my turn to act. I should have folded, but his action seemed a bit odd. I read this contender as a weak-tight person, and usually if he had the number one hand he would just check, so I called.
The turn came down with a 7, making it A-A-4-7. My opponent made a further bet of $20. I hesitated for a while, but made a decision to re-raise an additional $30thirty dollars over and above his twenty dollars. He dropped out and I won the cash.
Playing last position allows you an insight into where you stand by studying how players carry oneself and wager. On the other hand, people at starting spot can use their poker spot to check-raise the last positioned aggressors and trap them afterwords at the end. In Holdem, both spots, last and starting should be played carefully.
