NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?


Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the planet by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the adverse feedback from other people destroy his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil began playing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes errors every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
