Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to make it to the closing poker table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest players around the world. While participating in net poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus often participates in the 200/400 NL max buy in of $40, 000. Hansen frequently buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is broke, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the min buy in.
Buying in for the min takes a majority of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be one of the best players in the world but he cannot buy in for the total dollar value. I believe television can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The best players in the world might just be players you have never heard about. Gus can be found gambling on web poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in big stakes omaha hi-low and texas hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player.
