NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?


Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the globe by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover everything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental comments from others annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

He began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated a number of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and an eternal passion for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Even though Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
